Our Method

Isabell Gatto with JudiIsabell Gatto developed the Method of therapeutic acupressure over 20 years ago.  After nursing for ten years, Isabell then trained exclusively in complementary therapies.  She studied Therapeutic Touch with founder, Delores Krieger, Acupressure with Waturo Ohashi at the prestigious Ohashi Acupressure Institute, and Jin Shin Jyutsu® with Mary Burmeister, the U.S. Master.  She also has studied metaphysics, reflexology, hypnosis, aromatherapy, and music and color therapy.

Acupressure Practitioner Works on PatientIsabell incorporated the best of these modalities and developed her own sequence and series of acupressure holds that have had remarkable results with her own clients, and now with the clients of her students.  The “Best of Many,” the slogan of IGM®, illustrates how Isabell has developed an eclectic modality with a synergy that transforms the ancient healing practice of Chinese acupressure into a more powerful healing art.

A session takes about 1.5 to 2 hours.  You lie on a massage table, fully clothed. The practitioner plays quiet music in subdued lighting.  She presses on 50 different acupressure points in a predetermined sequence, usually holding two or three points at a time. The practitioner holds these points, applying light to moderate pressure, waiting for energy to gather and pass through.  When she feels a connection between the points being held, she will move on to the next hold, helping the energy to flow through your meridians.

Acupressure Practitioner Works on PatientYou might feel nothing.  Or, you might feel a variety of sensations, such as tingling, itching, or pulsing.  You might feel like you are floating or like electrical impulses are flowing through your body.  As the blockages are “released,” you might experience a variety of symptoms, such as sighing, belching, stomach gurgling, flatulence, waves of relaxation, laughter, or even an urge to cry.  Many clients experience a drop in body temperature in the course of a session.  All of these releases are good and signs that energy is flowing.  Most clients feel relaxed, and many even sleep through their sessions.  After the session, you might feel tired, or you might be energized. The practitioner does not give you her energy.  Rather, since there is infinite energy in the universe around us, the practitioner calls upon that energy and conveys it to you.
